About Affinity Neurodivergent Sitters

Our Mission

At Affinity Neurodivergent Sitters LLC, we are dedicated to providing exceptional child care for neurodivergent children right at home!  We believe in creating a fun and nurturing environment that supports their unique needs during every visit. Families and caregivers can take time away from home knowing that their child is safe and having fun with the AFFINITY sitter.

We have strict safety protocols, and all our staff members are trained in crisis management and are First Aid and CPR certified. Emergency forms, including Emergency contact forms and allergy forms are signed and completed prior to any visits.

  

With a background in special education and applied behavior analysis, I am aware that children and adults on the spectrum have not been afforded the same opportunities as everyone else. As a mother of two autistic children, I am also aware of the limited services available for us caregivers. A caregiver of someone on the autism spectrum rarely gets a break. Even when it does occur, the caregiver may experience high anxiety because they are fearful that the babysitter may call and ask them to come home early. Unless your child has a medical condition, respite care is scarce in our community. 


 Caregivers begin to struggle to maintain a life outside of parenting, treatments, doctors, the educational system, etc. My goal with AFFINITY Neurodivergent Sitters LLC is to give caregivers a relaxing break while their loved one has a fun and exciting visit where they are most comfortable... in their home. With my sitting services, I hope to improve the family life as a whole for both caregivers and child. Visits are to be free from high demands, and your loved one should feel respected, heard, loved, and most importantly accepted. I will never turn a Family away due to behaviors That have otherwise prevented them from other opportunities. Everyone deserves the opportunity to have a friend other than their caregiver. 

I use an ABA and PBS-based approach with neurodivergent children if needed. My visits are strictly for fun. Redirection is a better de-escalation tactic than using "discipline".   I will never turn a Family away due to behaviors That have otherwise prevented them from other opportunities. Everyone deserves the opportunity to have a friend other than their caregiver.  I am their friend when visiting and they are to see me as such. Visits are free of high demands minimizing risks of de-escalation tactics or any kind of "disciplinary" actions.

Affinity is currently only providing babysitting/ childcare services in the client's home. I feel it is the most comfortable for the children to get to know me and to also be themselves. 

I feel that Affinity provides a type of care that is unique. While I DO NOT provide medical care, I provide caregivers the ability to take time away for themselves, such as getting their hair or nails done, going on a date that they haven't done in years, or going to a concert. Affinity neurodivergent sitters LLC does not provide any kind of medical care or necessities such as feeding tube care, insulin or medication dispersal. All medications must be given by the caregiver before or after the visit at this time.
